Have you ever tried to put together the perfect team? Or wondered how effective your drafting order was in the game? Want to optimize your player selection in order to better compete online? Then take a look at our Position Draft Importance write up. The write up isn't lengthy, but it's a good guide for putting together a competitive team. We took into account time on the field based on formations available, effectiveness of positions, and problems in the game that must be countered by star player selection in determining the draft importance. Put a team together based on the guide, and then let use know how it works out in the forums!
For some unknown reason, a game that attempts to make it's claim to fame based on customization limits players ability to save more than 8 teams, more than 20 CaPs, and only allows a single Roster file. We have not only figured out a way around this completely unnecessary and poor design choice of 2K Sports in All Pro Football 2K8, we have provided a page with instructions on how to save multiple Roster files and have provided a set of Roster files available for download on the website. Click here to learn how to save multiple Roster files for the XBox 360.
After learning how to save multiple Rosters, then visit our Rosters Download Section and check out our Rosters. So far we have several teams available, including:
o 1977, 1993, and 2009 Dallas Cowboys Set
o 2009 Jacksonville Jaguars
o 2009 Tennessee Titans
o 2009 Texas Longhorns (University of Texas)

Here's another one of those wow moments in APF2K8. Randall Cunningham goes back for a pass, only to have it blocked. Ever alert, Randall manages to catch his own blocked pass! The crazy thing about this is that once he caught the pass, the passing window came back up. That's right, if he would have had time, he could have gone ahead and thrown the ball again. The guys at 2K Sports / Visual Concepts truly create wonderful games when scenarios such as this can play out.
New college uniform codes have been added to the site. Thanks goes out to brownster14 for working on the new uniform codes. If you are looking for a college team, then odds are we have it now.

Nepharius has put together an excellent new video highlighting Gale Sayers and his amazing kick returns. This is Gale Sayers and his everlasting radioactive booster blasters breaking ankles, achilles tangled, bodies mangled, leave 'em in the dust kick returns.
2K Football Strategy officially launched the website just a little over 4 months ago, and as of today we have gone nuclear by garnering over 1,000,000 page views! Not bad for a little old website created by and for video game enthusiasts!
It's the site member's the provide most of the content, and it's the site members that make the site what it is today. So a big hearty thanks from the 2K Football Strategy crew to all of the site members who have helped us make this a great place for the fans of APF2K8!
Last year a company emerged from the shadows squarely onto the fore front of the football scene with a new game in the works titled Back Breaker.NaturalMotion hit the scene powered by euphoria, a Dynamic Motion Synthesis for the new generation consoles (Playstation 3, XBox 360, and Wii). With euphoria, animations are not canned but are generated on-the-fly by the CPU as the game is played. Every tackle is your tackle, every haymaker is your haymaker. Euphoria is pitched to provide unprecedented interactivity and realism and thus far the videos released for the game appear to validate the pitch.
Even with this innovation in football, is this new tackle mechanic enough to make for a better football game?Is APF’s animation based approach really that flawed?Sure APF is not perfect, but we believe it is the best playing football game to date.
Have you ever taken the time to set all of your audibles for every formation only to realize that they have all been reset? Unfortunately, offensive audibles reset every time you modify a team's Play Book. However there is an easy way around the automatic reset, and it comes in realizing that your offensive audibles for each formation will be the first three plays in each formation. For each formation, simply make the first three plays that appear in the formations play list, the three plays that you want to be your audibles.
This is accomplished by moving the plays up and down in each formation. When you go into Play Book Manager and you open up a formation to where you are looking at all the plays within it, highlight a play and then press Y to move the play up and down within that formation. Once the play is in the location you wish it to be, press Y again to set it in that location. Then press START to save the Play Book.
Fortunately, defensive audibles do not change when you alter your playbook, although for convenience you can move these plays up and down within a formation using Y in the same way you do with offensive play
After flirting with retirement for years, Brett Favre means it this time. The Green Bay Packers quarterback retired after a 17-season career in which he dazzled fans with his grit, heart and rocket of an arm.
"I know I can still play, but it's like I told my wife, I'm just tired mentally. I'm just tired," Favre told ESPN's Chris Mortensen in a voice mail message.
Tuesday's surprise move comes after the 38-year-old three-time MVP set several league records, including most career touchdown passes, in one of his most successful seasons.
Last season, Favre broke Dan Marino's career records for most touchdown passes and most yards passing and John Elway's record for most career victories by a starting quarterback. He retires with 5,377 career completions in 8,758 attempts for 61,655 yards, 442 touchdowns and 288 interceptions. In his final season, Favre also extended his quarterback-record streak of consecutive regular-season starts to 253 games -- illustrating his trademark toughness. Add the playoffs, and Favre's streak stands at 275.
In the past several offseasons, Favre's indecision about his football future became a winter tradition in Wisconsin, with Cheeseheads hanging on his every word.
Unlike after the 2006 season -- when Favre choked up in a television interview as he walked off the field in Chicago, only to return once again -- nearly everyone assumed he would be back next season. Alas, it was not to be.
We are in the process of creating a strategy article on the Defensive Line Calls, when to use them and what each one buys the defense.
Think you know football?
Then stop by the forums and take our Defensive Line Calls Pop Quiz. Here's the essence of the quiz. There are 12 Defensive Line Calls in a 4-3, Nickel, and Dime package (see this image). For each Defensive Line Call, list whether it should be used to stop an outside run, an isolation run, an inside run, to pressure/sack the QB, or any combination of the options provided.

Today, EA Sports announced that it has extended its contract with the NFL and NFL Players through the 2012 season. That means the Redwood City, California-based publisher will retain exclusive game rights to all NFL teams, stadiums, and player likenesses and information until the Super Bowl XLVII champion is crowned in 2013.
This comes as heart breaking news to fans of the 2K series who had been looking to news and the possibility of a 2K NFL series game in the 2010 time frame. 2K has consistently created a game with more realistic game play than the Madden series, yet has found itself at the losing end when it comes to contract negotiations.
To make matters worse, when asked the following: Speaking a little more on the creative side and gearing your answer towards the consumer: how does this exclusivity deal benefit them to make Madden...
Peter Moore responded: "...as good as it was this year!"

Many of the teams current uniforms are not the uniforms the team first wore. The Dallas Cowboys for example, sport more white than silver in the early days. To celebrate the teams of yore, we have added the team uniform code for the Dallas Cowboys throwback jersies of the early 1960's. Enjoy Cowboy fans!
"Inside the NFL," the longest-running show in cable TV history, will conclude its 31-year run on HBO after the current episode, which debuted last night and reruns five times this week.
"It's like saying good-bye to an old friend," said HBO Sports president Ross Greenburg, who added the show still averages 2 million viewers per week but increasingly had trouble differentiating itself in a sports TV landscape vastly more crowded than it was in 1977.
"It's been a hell of a run," he said. "No shame here, no bitterness, no anger, just a lot of pride."
NFL Films, which partnered with HBO, plans to seek a new TV outlet for next season.
Nick Buoniconti, a host on the show for 23 years, said, "I'm very disappointed, but that's life."
After years of outcry at his omission from the Hall of Fame, WR Art Monk was finally accepted along with fellow Redskin CB Darrell Green, one of the fastest players ever in the NFL. Along with him, Emmitt Thomas, the great Chiefs CB of the 60s and 70s will be enshrined, as will DE Fred Dean, whose speed, quickness and strength made him a sack machine. The final two selections were LB Andre Tippett, who led the Patriots to their first Super Bowl in 1985, only to lose to the Bears, and OT Gary Zimmerman, who blocked for Terrell Davis and John Elway on the great Broncos teams of the 90s.

The Pittsburgh Steelers met the Dallas Cowboys in the NFL Simulation League Super Bowl II. This was a game of perfection with both teams play nigh perfect and scoring at will. The Cowboys managed to take the lead at the half going up 21-17, and scored immediately after the half giving them a 28-17 lead. It would be the last time the Cowboys scored. The Pittsburgh Steelers led by their Halfback Willie Parker countered the Cowboys score and closed the game to 28-24. They followed it up by containing the Cowboys backup halfback on their next drive and forcing the Cowboys to a 3 and out, and then driving down the field for the game winning touchdown to go up 31-28 with only 18 seconds on the clock.
Congratulations to the Pittsburgh Steelers and their team owner A Crazed Pyscho for winning the NSL Super Bowl II against Dallas Cowboys and their owner Valdarez.
Season 3 of the is in the process of starting up. This season will see 32 NFL teams battle it out over a 16 week season. If you have 50 games under your belt and over an 80% approval rating, then hop on over and sign up as a backup for the most realistic NFL Simulation League available in All Pro Football 2K8.
New England entered the Super Bowl a perfect 18-0, and the Giants were easily considered the underdog. Yet the Giants defense rose to the challenge, sacking Tom Brady 5 times and pressuring him another dozen more. The Giant's offense, led by Eli Manning, played a solid game. Many will say it was Eli that won the game where in one play late in the 4th quarter, with the game on the line, he appeared sacked as no less than three defensive line man laid their hands on him and engulfed him in a swarm of defenders. Yet Manning emerged from the pack, spinning out and heaving the ball deep where David Tyree jumped up in the air and brought the ball down between his hand and his helmet for a miracle catch. A couple of plays later and the Giants scored the winning touchdown giving them the game 17-14.
Congratulations to the New York Giants for defeating the New England Patriots in what has to be the greatest Super Bowl upset in NFL History.
It seems there was a problem with the Oakland Raiders code on the website, so we took some time and remedied the situation. If you're a Oakland Raiders fan then rejoice. We've now have a working Oakland Raiders code for you!
2K Football Strategy launched a little over two months ago, and since that time has registered over half a million hits (or page views) and never have this many hits felt so good! In addition to scoring half a million page views, the website has garnered nearly 300 site users. What started out as a fun project to bring together the collective knowledge of the 2K Football community has turned into something that's definitely more than the sum of it's parts. The website was put together by fans, for fans, and it's the 2K community that continues to make the website a fun place to discuss and disseminate All Pro Football.
Several months ago there was a lively discussion on the APF2K8 GameSpot boards about declining Madden sales and quicker price drops and now we have an official analyst who has come to the same conclusion.
Deutsche Bank analyst Jeetil Patel points out that EA Sports titles are trending down in sales, with juggernaut Madden '08 selling 100,000 less copies this year (5% drop) and NCAA Football '08 seeing a 17% drop; furthermore, compared to previous years the average selling price declines of these games accelerated.
Patel says that the underperformance of EA Sports titles represent two major issues: That an exclusive sports franchise is diminishing year after year, and whether future iterations can compete in a competitive market with many AAA titles available. He gives EA a "SELL" rating as its industry leadership is challenged along with the quality of its titles. We humbly present as anecdotal evidence: When the guys at this blogger's ultra-blue-collar barber shop spend the last three visits complaining about the quality of Madden games, that's definitely a sign straight from the "key demographic."
Want to compare the Bronze Quarterbacks to each other or take a look at every player at the Quarterback position without having to fire up your All Pro Football 2K8 game? Then take a look at the All Pro Football 2K8 Legends page where you can sort by the player's position, their tier, or their ability, and then view the player's actual NFL player's page.
This is the first step in our effort to make multiple type of player's information available. Next we will be updating the list of player's available on all of the NFL Simulation Team pages and then adding a list of other Historical players. With the All Pro Football Legends, current NFL players, and Historical players, we aim at providing the largest and most diverse set of player information available for All Pro Football.
Since the beginning of gaming, when consoles were first introduced to the masses in the late 1970's, there have been football video games. Many of us like to think we are old school and have played or seen it all, but have we really? Take a hike with us down memory lane as we reminisce over football games of yore. Did you play Football on the Atari? What about the original Tecmo Bowl? If these names mean nothing to you, or if they stir up fond child hood memories, then be sure to read The History of Football Video Games.
The first step to beating a Signal Stealer on defense is to make sure the sound is turn up. Otherwise you will not be able to hear when your play has been stolen and this can lead to turnovers and broken plays. When your opponent tries to steal your play and is unsuccessful you will hear a dull buzzing sound. When your opponent is successful and steals the play, then you will hear a low-pitched whooshing sound.
The way to beat a Signal Stealer is basically to pick one play then switch to another. This can be accomplished in two ways. The first way is to select the play you want then immediately as you are walking to the line of scrimmage, before your formation is even visible, audible to one of your audible plays. Once at the line of scrimmage, after you hear your opponent try to steal your play, audible back to the original play (for the XBox 360 press Y to audible then Left Bumper to return to the original play).
The other way to disguise your play is if the play you want to run happens to be one of your audible plays. In that case simply select a play from a formation that has the same players on the field as the audible play you intend to use, then after your opponent has attempted to steal your play, audible to the one you really want to run. If you do this consistently, at worst your opponent will find his Signal Stealer to be useless, and at best he will often think you are running one play when you are really running another. Once you get used to these methods and add your own creative twists to them, you might actually find yourself hoping your opponent steals your plays.
There's a lot of talk about various rules that are either followed or not being followed during a game of All Pro Football 2K8. If you're looking to verify whether a rule exists or if it's being broken then be sure to check out the NFL Digest of Rules. The NFL Digest of Rules contains definitions for various terms, the set of official NFL rules, and provides the list of penalties that are enforced when the rules are broken. Reading the NFL Digest of Rules is a great way for new players to familiarize themselves with NFL rules and penalties, and for old timers to brush up and solidify their knowledge.
Looking to create some art for your favorite NFL team? Want to recreate their logo just the way they make it? Then you're gonna need this download! We have added the fonts used to create the logos for various teams in the NFL to our download section.
Have another download that you think we should make available on our website? Then tell us about it!
There's been a lot of discussion about whether or not it's an acceptable practice to down the ball in order to run out the clock and win the game, instead of taking an easy score and giving the ball back to the opponent. Bryan Westbrook shows us that it is ok to down the ball in order to win the game. If anyone says that this practice is not 'sim', then just point out this example and have them view this video.
Have you heard the buzz??? There's a new uniform that has been added to the custom team packages page. If you're looking to sting your opponent, then try out the Waco Wasps!
We continue to add team package codes and content to the website. If you have created a team package code for your favorite team, and we don't have it listed, then please submit it along with a picture so we can post it for others to enjoy.
