NSL - Road to the SuperBowl Signups

It's been awhile since the NFL Sim League (NSL) hosted it's last Super Bowl, but that's all about to change with the NSL - Road to the SuperBowl edition. 2K Football Strategy is taking on an ambitious endeavor to host a new NFL League that will replicate the historic nature of the NFL starting in year one! That's right. We'll be playing every playoff series from the beginning. Will history repeat itself? Or will a new team alter it's course, winning throughout the playoffs and claiming the Lombardi Trophy as their own.

The league will be a tournament based format with teams built using the True Balanced Calculator (from Flaxwless) and following the original NSL rules. Each SuperBowl Victory will be emblazoned on a trophy plaque graphic hosted on this site, containing the teams, score, players, and MVP of each and every SuperBowl game.

League Realism
One thing I'm really hoping to see in this league is guys dedicated to making realistic teams (as much as possible). This will occur on two fronts. One is easy. Jersies. Do some research and recreate the jersies as authentically as possible.

The other is players (not necessarily abilities, but players in general). This will occur based on two items. Team Casting and PlayMakers.

Team Casting
When a Team is known for certain approaches, the you will be required to build these teams that way. They will be a limited set though, and I'm open to suggestions (via PM only please). For example, the Steel Curtain (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steel_Curtain), or the Cowboy's 1 to 93 team with the Trio-Set (Aikman, Smith, Irvin).

Play Makers / Hall of Fame
If the player is in the Hall of Fame then they need to be on your team. When a player was the franchise player, then they need to be on your team. I'll provide a short list of players for each team as well (whenever possible, and again, open to suggestions from others, via PM only).

This means at times, while you may be playing the team you like, you may not always get to pick the personnel you want. If you sign up for the league, you need to be aware of this condition, and be willing to accept it when it comes your time to use a certain player / team build.

How the League Will Work

NFL Team List
The NFL Team List will basically identify the team you will predominately be playing throughout the playoffs. We each will put together a team list of all NFL teams in the order in which we would like to play them. This list will be PM'd to me on the site, and I will maintain the list throughout the playoffs. Each player will have the opportunity to be a 'Franchise Owner' for a single team. This means they will have first dibs at the same team, each and every season.

Franchise Owner
After everyone submits their list, I will go through the list and identify the Franchise owners. Franchise owners will have their Franchise team removed from the list as they will always have first dibs on that team.

Since there are more teams than there are players (which is expected). We will then go to a draft like scenario for the remaining teams. Players who sat out one season will be given first dibs at drafting a playoff team for a second season. The draft will be based off of the original NFL Team List submitted by the players.

This process should be fairly smooth after the NFL Team Lists are submitted. Precedence for teams will be given based on the order in which people signed up for the league.

Team Creation
Teams will be created in the following manner:

o With all Hall of Fame Players (no exceptions)
o All Hall of Fame Players should be given Gold / Silver status unless their rookie year.
o Based on theme of team, or key players, if directed by league commish (we are going to be as historic as possible)
o Using Existing Players in the game (you are only allowed to recreate a player at a lower tier if you must)
o Using Flaxwlesses Team Balanced Calculator

NFL Seasons / Years
We'll try to play a season each week if possible, but odds are it will be every two weeks. We'll go as fast or as slow as necessary.

I found a link a couple of weeks back that listed the playoff history for each season, but for the life of me can't find it now. If you guys find one, or know of one, that shows the actual playoffs, and not just the super bowl teams, please send me the link or post it here. Thanks!
